More poems written after the earthquake
Children of Christchurch
I am a child
I am all I see
Liquefaction bubbling up
Families apart
People wanting to go home
I am all I hear
Piercing screams
Rumble of the earth
I am all I feel
Sad, alone, not so many children in the class
Sand, liquefaction between my toes
Shake, shake, then settling down
I am all I smell
Sewerage running through the drains
Dust floating in the air
I am all I taste
Salty tears
Bread and butter was all we had
I am all I remember
Mum’s tearful eyes
Dad’s smoky search and rescue overalls
I am all I think
Sorry for all those who have lost their family members
No power and water for a long time
I am a child of Christchurch
Amy
Children of Christchurch
I am a child
I am all I see
Bricks falling from the church
Cracks in the road
I am all I hear
Crying and screaming
Diggers and trucks
Rattle of the windows
I am all I smell
Hand sanitiser
Chlorine in the water
I am all I taste
Chlorine
Jelly that I ate at Grandma’s
I am all I feel
After shocks
Bumps in the road
I am all I remember
My friends and I crying
Having no power and water
I am all I think
“Is it over?”
How long will it take to fix Christchurch?
I am a child of Christchurch

Crack in the Grand Plaza
Buildings that have moved
I am all I hear

On the floor in the cloakbay

Welcome to our blog
Welcome to Room 2's blog. We have been in an earthquake, it was a 6.3. Some of us were scared.
Some of us were crying and there were lots of aftershocks. Mums and dads came and picked us up.
